In this film, "Love In The City," some of Italy's greatest filmmakers, attempting to capture the breath of life and the heartbeat of reality in simple human experiences, have created a new kind of journalism, a magazine of the screen, a Film Spectator.
Using film and sound instead of paper and ink, they have searched out the intimate patterns of love peculiar to a great city - without fear, without taboos!
Working as editor-reporters, they asked people to tell, in their own words, their experiences with love in the city. As these people, who were not actors, showed what happened and where it happened, their stories were recorded - revealing many moods, many promises, many dreams, and many endings. For love in the city is not like movie love, with beautiful women sighing over he-men: a love that can be rehearsed and revised until perfect. Through sheer authenticity and uncompromising candor, the makers of this film have managed to take a new look at the human race and it's pursuit of love.
